    Sir or Ma’am:

    I’m sending this question on behalf of my son who is about to take work in the oilfields of Colorado, North Dakota and Wyoming. His new employer informed him that he had to get “live well insurance” in order to work near the drilling rigs. Does your agency offer such insurance to individuals? If so, what sort of rates do you offer and how would Chad go about securing such insurance?

    Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.

    Hi Thomas,

    The Liability insurance your are looking for should be available through a commercial insurance agent in your area that deals witht the oilfield. I can only write insurance in the state of Texas unfortunately. Live well and over the hole coverage is usually available through insurance carriers that write oilfield service contractors. In our state that coverage would normally be purchased by the contractors and not an employee. I am not aware of the practice you are refering to in your instance. Your son may want to check with other oil companies and employees to see if that is how is done there normally. Sorry I could not be of more help.
